Bunny boilers aren’t just for Christmas

Last evening I found myself propping up the bar down Dalkey way. I haven’t been there in years but was out for drinks with a friend and we decided to head out that way. Easy enough to get a taxi home from there.

During the evening she began to tell me about this bloke she’d met in a bar a couple of months ago. He seemed a nice enough fella, but then as so often happens he began to go a little strange. Text messages and phone calls all the time, too many if truth be told for someone she’d only been out with the once. However she’s got a soft heart and decided to go out with him just the once more to see if there really was anything there and give him another chance.

As the night progressed she realised that her initial impression had been correct and soon she found herself having to put him straight about a few things. She explained that talking about marriage and babies was just not on, that he was far too serious for her and especially at this stage of them knowing each other.

His response was a cracker:
‘But - but, I can do casual! Let’s go home and have sex!’

She confided to me that she realised after that she’d reached the low point of the evening.
